The national juvenile track and field championships took place in Tullamore, Co. Offaly last weekend and on a day when many longstanding records were broken, there were some terrific performances from DMP athletes at the first session on Saturday.
Marco Pons set a new national record of 57.67m in the boys under-18 discus, beating the record that had been set by Frank O' Brien in 1994 by well over a metre.
Ollie Jager was first in the under-16 shot with a throw of 14.50m and he was then second in the under-16 discus with a throw of 46m.
Mary Bohanna won the girls under-16 girls hammer with a throw of 40.58m.
Clara McGuinness was second in the under-18 shot with a throw of 10.05m.
Tom Furlong finished third in the under-19 hammer with a throw of 58.58m.
Jennifer Bohanna finished sixth in the under-15 javelin.
